The Global Water & Sanitation Center’s (GWSC) session brings together experts from diverse backgrounds to discuss the interdependencies between SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and other Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It aims to reach AIT students and guests from private sectors, development agencies, and international financing institutions.

GWSC keynote presentation on City-wide Inclusive Sanitation

Isha Basyal Tiwari, GWSC Deputy COO.

Description: This session introduces GWSC and its current roles in facilitating sanitation development in South and Southeast Asia. It emphasizes the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing complex sanitation challenges and its linkages to other goals, using examples from current projects.

Challenges and Opportunities in Synergizing SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) with other SDGs.

Description: This session is for short video competition winners to express their thoughts regarding challenges and constraints in connecting and co-benefit SDG6 with other goals of sustainable development such as: no poverty (SDG 1), zero hunger (SDG 2), sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11), gender equality and social inclusion (SDG 5), resource recovery and clean energy (SDG 7), climate issues (SDG 13), biodiversity and marine resources (SDG14).

Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Synergizing SDG 6 with other goals

Invited experts from ADB, UNICEF, UNHABITAT & AIT Schools.

Facilitator: Prof. Thammarat Koottatep, Co-Director, GWSC.

Description: This session responds to the first panel discussion, examining challenges and co-benefits arising from various areas that necessitate attention and consideration within the framework of SDG 6. This session fosters a holistic understanding of how sanitation development contributes to broader sustainable development goals and vice versa.

Eligibility: Open to all current university students

Competition Guidelines:

  1. Fill out the entry form available at …, providing your contact details, and the link to your TikTok video.

  2. Create a TikTok video (up to 1 minute) that addresses challenges and constraints to connect SDG 6, focus on ‘inclusive sanitation’ and other SDGs, among others, no poverty (SDG 1), zero hunger (SDG 2), sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11), gender equality and social inclusion (SDG 5), resource recovery and clean energy (SDG 7), climate issues (SDG 13), biodiversity and marine resources (SDG14),

  3. Upload your video to your TikTok/LinkedIn/Facebook, and ensure it is set to public. Use the hashtag #…. in the caption of your video. Follow @GWSC on Facebook and LinkedIn and tag us in your video.

  4. Submit the link to your video. Submissions will be evaluated based on creativity, relevance to the theme, and clarity of message.

Prizes and Opportunities for the top 6 videos:

  1. Students Assistantship: The winners will have the chance to work at GWSC as student assistants to catalyze their idea as a concept.

  2. Research Funding: Each winner will receive additional research funding to pursue their study research project (for 1st-year students).
