Greener Future: Advancing Climate Resilience with Nature-Based Solutions
Organized by: RRCAP in collaboration with OSC
Background
Climate change demands solutions that both reduce emissions and enhance resilience. Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) offer an integrated approach by protecting, restoring, and managing ecosystems to address climate challenges while delivering co-benefits for biodiversity, livelihoods, and sustainable development. Despite their potential, NbS are not yet fully mainstreamed into national policies due to gaps in capacity, finance, and institutional integration. This workshop will explore NbS as a critical pathway to achieving climate resilience alongside decarbonization goals.
Overview
The workshop “Building Climate Resilience with Nature-Based Solutions” will explore how ecosystem-based approaches can address the dual challenges of decarbonization and climate adaptation. Organized by the Regional Resource Centre for Asia and the Pacific (RRC.AP) under the Decarbonization Nexus 2025 framework, the session will highlight the role of Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) in enhancing climate resilience, supporting national and local adaptation strategies, and contributing to net-zero transitions.
What to Expect
Participants will gain insights into NbS concepts, principles, and global experiences, as well as strategies for integrating NbS into adaptation planning and policy frameworks. The program features expert presentations from the RRC.AP thematic clusters, case studies, discussions on financing mechanisms, and policy-enabling conditions. The workshop will also facilitate cross-sectoral dialogue, engaging government, academia, private sector, and community stakeholders.
Expected Outcomes
Enhanced understanding of NbS in advancing both adaptation and mitigation.
Evidence-based recommendations for integrating NbS into climate strategies.
Identification of policy, financing, and capacity-building priorities for scaling up NbS.
Strengthened stakeholder collaboration and knowledge-sharing for inclusive, locally informed implementation.
