“Waste to Worth”

In alignment with AIT’s vision of developing a Botanical Garden Campus and achieving Net Zero emissions by 2030, the Office of Sustainable Campus (OSC) is excited to announce a special highlight of the upcoming AIT Decarbonization Nexus 2025—a sustainability-themed kids’ competition titled “Waste to Worth.”

The Nexus, under the theme “Connecting Minds. Empowering Actions.”, will take place on 11–12 September 2025 at the AIT Conference Center. This two-day flagship event will convene universities, industry leaders, researchers, students, and the wider community to co-create solutions that accelerate climate action and sustainability.

About the Competition

The “Waste to Worth” Kids’ Competition is designed for AIT International School (AITIS) students in Grades 3–6. The initiative encourages young learners to use their creativity and innovation to transform everyday household waste—such as plastics, metal cans, UHT boxes, paper, or fabric offcuts—into useful or artistic products. The activity aims to inspire children to see waste as a resource and nurture an early commitment to sustainability.

Competition Timeline

  • Now – 8 September 2025: Students design and create their entries at home.

  • 8 September 2025: Submission of entries to AITIS (end of school day).

  • 9 September 2025: Judging at AITIS and shortlisting of Top 10 entries.

  • 11–12 September 2025: Final exhibition of shortlisted entries at the AIT Decarbonization Nexus for public display and guest scoring.

Prizes

  • 🥇 1st Prize: 2,000 THB

  • 🥈 2nd Prize: 1,000 THB

  • 🥉 3rd Prize: 500 THB

Winners will be announced during the Nexus closing ceremony, with the projects displayed alongside innovations from universities, industries, and sustainability partners.
